On May 28th Central School was able to participate in their annual tradition, The Hike Through History. The theme of this year’s hike was Journeys. The 3rd-grade students, their teachers, art teacher, Mrs. Stewart, Mrs. Mulcahey, and members from Historic New England, and Old Berwick Historical Society created presentations and activities to help our hikers “travel through time “. Our PreK, kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd-grade hikers spent all day learning about the people who lived in South Berwick for hundreds of years. The hikers played old-fashioned games, learned about modes of transportation through time, made shoes, fished, and gardened like the Native Americans, among other things. And, they sketched and wrote in their journals along the way. The traditional hot dog lunch and popsicles were enjoyed by many. It was a fun-filled learning day for all.
