Maple Syrup

Debi Hartford from the Thurston and Peters Sugar House came to Central School to teach the second graders about “Maple Sugaring ''- the process of collecting the sap from the maple trees, and boiling it down to make it into a sweet delicious syrup. The students learned the terms sugarbush, sap, tapping, tubing, evaporation, and grading Mrs. Hartford gave each student a sample of the maple syrup, it was delicious!  If you would like a tour of the sugar house and learn more about the process , please visit them at: 299 Bond Spring Road (Route 11) West Newfield, Maine 04095. Many thanks Debi Hartford for volunteering her time to teach us about the process.
