a message from the prinicipal

Dear Eliot Elementary School Families,

Snow appeared in our Eliot Elementary School playground, if only for a moment! Students
could be found rolling down the hill, making giant snow balls, strolling along the wooded area in
deep thought, and playing “Gaga Ball” in the pit. I overheard a student, as she exited the school
and came out onto the playground, “Wow, it’s finally winter!”

Yesterday our students participated in a “fire drill” at Eliot Elementary School. Such drills at
school occur periodically throughout the school year. The “fire drill” provides students and
their teachers with opportunities to practice exiting the school building in a quick, calm and
safe manner. Just as we practice our safety plans at school, we encourage families to consider
the same at home.

Today, our students enjoyed a production by members of the TIGER Team from Plymouth State
College, which was funded by PEEPs. TIGER is an acronym for Theater, Integration, Guidance,
Education, and Responsibility. This professional theatre troupe uses music, theatre, and dance
as a means to help students understand effective ways to respond in difficult interpersonal
interactions, as well as to embrace the importance of working together in order to experience
success.

We look forward to seeing your child every day at school and wish you and your family the very
best.

Sincerely,

Peter E. Harrison, Ed. D.
Principal
